Ubuntu on my HP Pavilion dv6125se
So my old Dell laptop that I was holding together with duct tape and chewing gum finally died on me last week and I had to buy a laptop. I started shopping around a couple of days ago for a new laptop the number one thing was I wanted it to be brand new and have some good bells and whistles. Now my old laptop I loaded 5.04 Ubuntu and it worked like a charm since the day it died. So right now I just got done downloading the 6.10 ISO for AMD and backing up my OS. I really hate that I have to purchase Microsoft XP on my laptop I am going to try and get a refund from them on the OS. The other thing that is really crazy is the amount of CRAP that HP loads on the box that I really don’t want thanks for the offer guys but I really just want an OS and I will load my own applications. The way they try to shove all of these waste of space apps onto the general public is tantamount to an unsolicited telemarketer calling your home and intruding into your personal time at home. There should be a law against them shoving these things onto you. Oh well I will post how my install and configuration of Ubuntu 6.10 carries on.

I have got things working pretty well right now. I am still having an issue with the camera I should post something tonight on the full install.

Looking forward to reading it. I’m contemplating getting one myself, but am not sure whether any distro will run on it. I use Zenwalk myself, but my wife uses Xubuntu on her lowly laptop (which is gonna be replaced by this beaut).

Have you been able to get a refund on the preinstalled software? If so, how did you go about doing that?
