New Format for MP3s

So I have been doing a bunch of work on converting all of my old CDs to MP3s.  Then I needed to fix the MP3 Tags for all of them.  I used EasyTAG to edit MP3 tags and naming in mass.  This works great for my needs.

Now here comes the issue.  I know I can build playlist with Amarok and upload it or I can play by genre of song.  I am a big fan of Punk music so most of the time I just pick punk out of my genre list and let it shuffle.  This works alright but then there are bands I like that I consider Punk that gets put under Folk Punk so I miss out on them in my shuffle unless I put them into a playlist or change their genre.

Here is what I am thinking… We need to change the way MP3s tagging and MP3 players interact.  It would be nice if you could really “tag” or assign a tag to a group of your mp3s and have the player be able to play by “tag” or “keyword”  you can pretty much then get rid of the need to care about genre tags or playlist. If you want something added to a playlist you just add that tagged word to that song.  I really think it could change how MP3s are managed.
